Evolution Story

The journey begun with two individuals - Vibhav Nuwal & Vishal Pandya getting e-connected through LinkedIn. The thought process matched, synergies struck and the idea of bringing innovation in Indian Power Market got officially incorporated with REConnect Energy on 22nd September, 2010.

The team of two started working on Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) market and emerged as India's largest REC Trading Company within first 12 months of operations.

Within first three years, the team expanded to about 17 and the client portfolio reached about 2 GW of capacity of RE spread across India.

The journey also helped us discover few remarkable and extra-ordinary teammates who led the team from the front and helped us consolidate our market position further.

The strong presence in REC market also helped us expand further in the new areas like wind/solar power forecasting and scheduling. Under this, we developed some very valuable skills like large scale data processing and analytics, machine learning algorithms for predictive analysis, building scalable architecture for large IT platforms.

The work done under wind forecasting and scheduling helped us win another award of Wind Facilitator of the Year (2014) at 4th Wind IPP Summit Awards.

As a next step of innovation, we have now launched India's first marketplace (clickpower.in) to transact renewable energy based bilateral contracts. The objective of the marketplace is help consumer procure greener and cheaper power through a most transparent and cost-effective way. The platform also helps RE generators to map very large consumer base across key states in India.

Management

Vishal Pandya

An engineer by heart and has passion for power markets. He brings good understanding on regulations, power system studies, market models, programming, algorithms and renewable energy. That makes him the holy grail of energy market. He loves innovation through technology and believes in delivering things with a difference. He is an alumnus of IIT Bombay with specialization in power systems & power electronics. Before REConnect, he worked with IEX (business development) and L&T (power transmission and distribution).

A rare gujju soul who doesn't think much about money except for his strict veg. diet and love for dandia dance.

Vibhav Nuwal

Vibhav is an MBA from Columbia Business School, New York, where his course work focused on environmental finance and markets. Vibhav is also a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in corporate finance, accounting and business strategy. Most recently, he worked in a carbon credit trading and investments firm, where he managed the trading and monetization activities for over $50 million worth of carbon credits.

In the past, he has worked on the REC and EEC markets in USA, where he played a key role in studying market design and performance for many countries and gave recommendations for market setup in the USA.

He has over 10 years of experience in the strategy consulting and finance with marquee companies like Arthur Andersen and JPMorgan, and has diverse international experience, having worked in USA, UK, Switzerland and Singapore.

Ram Kumar

He is responsible for the Business Development Activity in the REC field. In past, he has worked in senior management in a leading Carbon and Electricity Consulting Company.

He was the head of business development for India for carbon advisory practice where he successfully developed the carbon advisory businesses and worked on over 50 projects.

Madhusudan C

Madhusudan is a geeky electrical engineer who enjoys reading and coding in his free time. He has a long trail of experience in IT, Strategy and general management. As the CTO of the company he is responsible for product design and development, release and market launch of clickpower.in, the analytics platform and all other products being developed at REConnect.

He is a Electrical engineer from Bangalore University with an MBA in General management from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, The Netherlands.

He believes that world will run short of knowledge one day and hence he continue to gather knowledge of everything (literally everything). Knowing abilities of Rajni Sir and Jadeja Sir, people at REConenct love to call him as Madhu Sir.
